Metsovo and the St. Nicholas Monastery

North of Meteora in the Greek Balkans is the beautiful alpine city of Metsovo. Inhabited by ethnic Vlachs -- cousins of Romanians -- the town is famous for its wines, cheeses and mountain views. During our stay in Metsovo we also visited the 14th-century St. Nicholas Monastery, about a 30 minute hike downhill from town.
