Kids and the Internet 2

Around the World in Dozens of Emails

The students of Rosewood, armed with their computers and KIDLINK's resources, have tackled a variety of tasks. One project, Around the World in Eighty Poems, directed the kids to use the Internet to track down at least eighty poems from dozens of countries. The students contacted kids in other parts of the world to exchange their nation's poetry. In the end, the class compiled more than 150 poems, which were analyzed, researched within a historical context, and laid out together. Additionally, the students were asked to write poems of their own on the computer for Valentine's Day. The children exchanged their drafts for 'peer review' and discussion, and when they were all satisfied with their work, the students laid it out and sent it to nursing homes in South Carolina and Iowa.
