The following pages are pretty much verbatim transcripts of a journal I kept while traveling around the Mideast in the Fall of 1995 with my longtime travel buddy, Susanne Cornwall. Apart from a few grammatical corrections, nothing has changed since I wrote these words while trekking across Egypt, Jordan and Israel.
