The Mughal emperor Humayun (1530-1540, 1555-1556) is often overlooked because he reigned between two giants, his father Babur (founder of the Mughal Dynasty) and his son Akbar (builder of Fatehpur Sikri). Humayun was also overthrown for 15 years and only managed to regain control of the throne for a few months before dying and leaving the empire to Akbar. Even his death was fateful - he fell down a flight of stairs at his library. Luckily, his wife was a talented architect, and she build a magnificent tomb for him - a tomb that would later serve as inspiration for the Taj Mahal.
