Broadcast News is more than a journalist game; it teaches numerous important skills and subjects, such as current events, political science, history, writing, decision making and opinion forming. Most students dread current events; if a teacher announced to a group of eighth graders that they are going to spend the morning writing a report about an Indian Prime Minister, they often lose interest. On the other hand, if you ask the same group to put together their own video and film it, they leap into it. To the student, learning about India and politics is incidental, but they learn it nevertheless.
