Susanne and I met this enterprising young man while riding a bus downhill from the ruins of Machu Picchu to our hotel in the Peruvian village of Aguas Calientes. The bus had to wind its way downward due to the steepness of the mountain, and the boy would race the bus, cutting straight down the mountain on a precarious toepath while the bus took the long way. Each time he passed the bus, he'd announce his presence by yelling out "Oohpaaaaaaa!," which he would stretch out until you could hear the doppler shift of his voice. Our fellow travelers on the bus were so enchanted by his speed that they showered him with money at the bottom of the mountain (we even noticed several tourists given him five dollar bills). Definitely one of the more original ways to make a living we've seen in our travels....
